Psychological Support for Veterans and Families
At Elevated Minds Psychology, we are proud to support current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families through Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) funded psychological services.
Understanding DVA Support
The DVA funds mental health services for eligible veterans, including those with a White Card (for accepted conditions) or Gold Card (for all conditions). DVA services also extend to eligible dependents and widows/widowers in some cases.

Common concerns we support include:
-
Adjustment to civilian life
-
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
-
Depression and anxiety
-
Moral injury and survivor guilt
-
Chronic pain and trauma-related distress
-
Family and relationship difficulties
-
Grief, loss, and identity issues
Evidence-Based, Veteran-Sensitive Care
Our clinicians are trained in trauma-informed and evidence-based therapies such as:
-
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for moral injury and identity reintegration
-
CBT and mindfulness-based approaches for anxiety, depression, and sleep
-
Schema Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) for relational concerns
-
We understand the cultural complexity and identity shift that can accompany military-to-civilian transitions and tailor care with that in mind.
